A popular area for walkers Carding mill valley is around 2 miles long with lightspout waterfall at it's head. Following Mott's road up the valley brings you out onto the long Mynd plateau, here you can get fine views of Shropshire and several other counties.
Most of the Long Mynd was acquired by the National Trust through public subscriptions in 1965 with 250 more acres in Carding Mill valley being added in 1979 making the total owned 5,850 acres.
Carding mill valley and the Long Mynd are designated as a biological and geological SSSI's within the Shropshire hills Area of Natural Beauty.
