This mural named "In the Beginning", features the roots of the Porcupine Gold Camp with wilderness setting, a fledgling mining operation and gold prospectors. The porcupine gold rush started in 1909 and by the end of 1910 the settlements of Golden City, Pottsville and South Porcupine were established with Schumacher and Timmins following in 1912.

Ed Spehar, a local artist, painted the mural, which covers the front of a building on Father Costello Dr. (formerly First Ave.) in Schumacher, now part of the City of Timmins, Northern Ontario, Canada.
