The College of San Mateo (CSM) is located in the hills above San Mateo with sweeping views of San Francisco and the bay. CSM was founded in 1922 and the current 153 acre hilltop campus was opened in 1963. In 1964, KCSM FM radio and TV station made their broadcasting debut. In 2006, CSM opened a state-of-the-art science building with observatory, followed by a planetarium the following year. About 11,000 students attend CSM each semester.
