Casey's Diner is a well-known establishment and an icon for the town of Natick. It is located on South Ave., which is the road that runs parallel to the tracks on the south side. It is only large enough to seat 10 people inside, and there isn't much room behind the seats. Thus, be prepared to eat your meal standing outside, in your car, or elsewhere. The menu is simple. The primary item that people go for are the hot dogs. The all-around is a hot dog with mustard, relish, and onions. There are hot dogs always ready in a pot and more being steamed. You can get burgers or sandwiches as well.
According to the historical plaque fixed on the corner by the take-out window, Casey's started as a wagon that was parked at Natick Common a few blocks away. In 1925, this diner, built by the Worcester Lunch Car Company in 1922, was acquired by the family and stands today much as it did then. The interior is still wood, and, according to another web site, it is among the oldest and best preserved of its type. It is listed in the National List of Historic Landmarks, as well.
Come on down for a bite!
