Per the Hawkins County website (link below), "This beautiful park, set stunningly along the placid Holston River, is operated by Hawkins County as a municipal park. The 440-acre property was ceded to the county following the conlusion of filming for the major motion picture "The River", starring Mel Gibson and Sissy Spacek. Park includes river-access, a mountain creek, playground equipment, tennis courts, softball and baseball fields, and more. The park is open year round. Picnic shelters are available for reservation beginning April 1 thru October 31. Free; fee for reservation of shelters. Call 423-357-8110 MWF from 3:00-6:00pm."
