"Tongariro - A Sacred Gift" by author and photographer Craig Potton, a book about the beautiful Tongariro National Park in the central North Island of New Zealand.
To assemble the material for this book, the author lived for more than a year in the park itself, and the wonderful illustrations are an example of his technical and artistic skill. Tongariro in all its varied moods is faithfully recorded along side a well written and interesting history of New Zealand's first national park.
The Tongariro National Park lies in the central North Island, south of Lake Taupo, and includes the area surrounding the three volcanoes, Mt Tongariro, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Ruapehu. The co-ordinates are given for the main road access to Mt Ruapehu.
