There are two large walnut panels carved with stylish images of cowboys at work. It was an appropriate choice of subject for 1930s Salinas, which was a bustling town serving as marketplace for the county's cattle ranchers. They are hanging high above the lobby so to
it's difficult to appreciate their fine points.
Richard O'Hanlon was a "young starving artist" during the Depression who went on to achieve a fair degree of fame as a muralist (learning from Diego Rivera), sculptor, and professor at UC Berkeley.
