On Page 92, the author describes the history of the reservoir high up on Bays Mountain. "In 1916, Thomas Feagans sold his land, for forty dollars, to the Kingsport Water Works, a company affiliated with Clear Creek Water Company, who had been buying options on land in the "Bays" area since 1914, with J. Fred Johnson as President. The Cleer Creek Water Company has realized that the Bays Mountain was a natural water shed and planned to build a dam to impound the water, which would be piped to the growing young city, just east and below Sentinel Point, Kingsport."
The next paragraph goes on to say "As the waters of the dam rose, the mountain village disappeared." So TVA was not the first to flood out towns in the area. The dam is Waymark WM52ZY.

The book, published in 2002, was stated to be the first of a trilogy, although the subsequent books have not yet been released. Google has scanned the book, thus portions can be found on-line. I picked up a copy at the local library to read.
