Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Brigadier General in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Lieutenant in Company G, 4th Vermont Infantry Link for action on May 3, 1863 at Salem Heights, Virginia. His citation reads "Distinguished bravery in action where he was wounded and had a horse shot from under him." Link
