The mural depicts silhouettes of San Jose Olympians Tommy Smith and John Carlos in their raised glove Black Power salute at the 1968 Olympic podium, while standing in a canoe with the words "Thank You" on the side of the canoe. Above the water that the canoe appears in, is a circular design looking like a parachute from the bottom, with the radiating panels of the chute colored in a repeating four color sequence of blue, gray, cream and red. Flying around the parachute design are many birds colored brown, gray and dark blue. Near the edge of the mural are white bell shapes. The mural is not far from San Jose State University, where both athletes went to college.
