315 South Rose Street is the main branch of the kalamazoo public library system. located in downtown kalamazoo, this beautiful library was voted library of the year, 2002 by library journal.

original building was built in 1893 and it stood for 65 years. in 1958, construction began on a new building and the library was combined with a museum. the new building opened in 1959. recently, the building was given another overhaul, resulting in 98,000 square feet with 75% more space. this latest, modern version opened in 1998.
