This is New Hanover High School in Wilmington, NC that was used for Laura Dern's character 'Sandy Williams". In this scene Kyle MacLachlan's character 'Jeffrey Beaumont' pulls up in front of the high school and sees Sandy with her friends. He stops and asks her to come with him to "Arlene's" which is a small restaurant (also waymarked). No filming in this movie was done inside the school.
