This station is the gate for north-bound trains.
Opened on July 28, 1883, Ueno station once was destructed by the Great Kanto earthquake in 1923.
There was no technical difficulty to build this station; however, extra techniques for water proofing due to the soft ground was needed.
Famous "Haiku" author ISHIKAWA Takuboku, once described this station in Haiku.
