Text from the sign:
"CASA SERRANO
Built for an English blacksmith in 1840. and sold to Don Florencio Serrano, a schoolteacher, in 1846. The Monterey History and Art Association was founded here in 1931."
This is a new sign which is more attractive than standard ones placed by the MHAA in front of other landmarks on the Path of History. MHAA still owns and uses this building, and it is open to the public for tours at various times of year, especially for Christmas in the Adobes.
