From the Home of the Heros website (link), we learn that Private Ward was born in Greene County, TN. He entered the US Army from Morristown, TN. Private Ward earned the Medal of Honor on October 18, 1918 for heroism near Estrees, France. During intense assaults upon enemy positions, his company was held up by a machine gun, which was enfilading the line. Accompanied by a noncommissioned officer, Private Ward advanced against this post and succeeded in reducing the nest by killing three and capturing seven of the enemy and their guns.
The gravesite is to the left/north from the front entrance. Look for the "Ward" family stone, then to the south.
