"This residence, built for Marcus Koshland who made his fortune in wool, was modeled after Madame de Pompadour's Versailles chateau Le Petit Trianon. The building was completed in 1904 and inaugurated with a Marie Antoinette costume ball. Two years later, the facade was damaged in the 1906 earthquake, but it was quickly restored." (visit link)
