This building, which is almost seventy years old, shows a nice mix of clean modern architecture with classic details that relate to its position in Santa Barbara's historic downtown. The art collection is particularly rich in antiquities and Asian sculptures, which were the very first bequests it received. They have an outstanding 23,000 works on paper (drawings, prints, and photographs) which of course cannot all be displayed at once, but which are available to scholars. There is always at least one changing exhibit. Docent led gallery tours are available daily.
