The memorial is located in Pleasant Hill Cemetary just South of Blairstown, Iowa.
I grew up in Blairstown, and my father is buried here.
This is a beautiful hillside cemetary. On Memorial Day weekend The cemetary is AWESOME!! The local Legion post, MJ Kirby Post 170, goes all out to honor the veterans. The roads are lined with more than 50 flags, they place smaller flags on each of the veterans graves, and place a "wall" of honor at the entrance with the names of all the fallen buried here.
As you drive towards Blairstown from the South and come around a bend in the road, if the wind is blowing the flags it's breath taking.

Description of Memorial: The memorial is actually 2 parts. A brick planter to the front holds the plaque which tells how the memorial was funded. A granite "headstone" to the rear Lists The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard, along with the inscription "Dedicated to the men and women who served their country in the armed forces". Both are flanked by pine trees on both sides.
I actually didn't realize this was here until I went by it as I was looking at a Civil War statue.
