The Reading Terminal Market was built by the Reading Railroad in 1892 beneath their huge train shed. The bought two local markets, the Farmers' Market and the Franklin Market, and relocated them under the shed of their new state-of-the-art railroad terminal. It became the world's largest indoor market.
