This military ground equipment displays is fairly typical of what can be found around local Legion posts and other VFW posts. This one is located directly in front of and to the slight right of the Edwin I. Johnson American Legion Post 370.

There is no marker, plaque or any type of acknowledgment as to the purpose of this display. As for when it was placed, that too was a mystery to the men with whom I spoke. The people present had rented out the hall for a gathering of some sort.

The United States Army adopted the the British QF 6-pounder 7 cwt (also known as 6 pdr) as their primary anti-tank gun under the designation 57mm Gun M1. This British anti tank gun was also a 57 mm gun, their primary anti-tank gun during the middle of World War II.

This weapon was in service from 1942–1960. It was produced from 1941–1945, after being designed in 1940. It takes a crew of 6 and has a maximum range of 5,000 yards. It was only used in World War II.

Also near by, about 70 feet to the south is a very comprehensive multi-war memorial consists of a 5-foot high stone wall with the center dedicated to the great wall & plaques to the left & right; the right for WW II, the left, WW II & the Korean War. It was pieced together over the years. There is also a Vietnam Memorial also within this multi-war memorial display.

As far as the building goes, I found an article from a Courier Post newspaper article (our local paper) dated May 26, 1950, and within it, some important particulars. The Legion building was dedicated on May 30th of that year, Memorial Day as a "monument to the five Magnolia servicemen who were killed in War II....The legionnaires plan to erect a memorial with names of War II veterans before the home. The marble memorial with names of War I vets will also be moved from its present site at Atlantic Avenue and Evesham road to the post grounds. The veterans to whom the home will be dedicated are Edwin I. Johnson, Raymond Carty, Kirk Arnold, Raymond Domz, George Morrow and Charles F. Paulton."
