About the site, from a sign:
Individuals, civic groups and families have adopted and planted the beds here. Some are vegetable beds and others are habitat beds for birds and butterflies. Sponsored and supported by Woodbury Parks and Recreation, donations, and volunteer efforts. Visitors are always welcome to our little oasis.
From a sign on site about the land this garden is on:
The Woodbury Community Garden project is on city property. Before the city of Woodbury was involved with this land, G.G. Green owned it in the late 1800s into the early 1900s. He manufactured proprietary medicines such as the "August Flower" and Bosch's "German Syrup."
In the mid to late 1800s much of the land off Red Bank Avenue, which at the time was called Cedar Avenue, was owned and farmed by E. Moore.
In 1928, the E. Moore house, barn, & other buildings were removed to make was for Evergreen Avenue. On April 28th 1959, the estate of G.G. Green was sold to Annaly Jamison (wife of Jamison) for $60,000.
On that same day, Jamison sold this land to the Woodbury Trust Co. & the trustees of the will of Frank Stewart allegedly for $1; the land was sold to the City of Woodbury supposedly for $1. It has been city property ever since.
