I personally have been to several Chiefs games through the 1990's, (When the Chiefs had an incredible home record and before I had children and could no longer afford tickets.) The atmosphere of a home game is incredible. I have heard many anouncers state that Arrowhead is the loudest open outdoor stadium. Sound levels have been registered as high as 116 decibels. All of this being said about the atmosphere, I saw many out of towner's unmolested and only given a gentle harassment. This in contrast to my own experience at a home San Diego Chargers.
While this may be my favorite football team and venue, things are not always roses for the stadium. In 2007, voters had the oportunity to build a retractable roof that would go over both Arrowhead and Royals Stadium. This vote was unsuccessful. While on this point, the stadium is owned by Jackson County, so this would not have been merely a hook into the taxpayer. The NFL had promised Kansas City to be the host of Super Bowl 49 if the addition had gone through, however, this along with the roof is not going to happen.
