Along side the Queen Mary, the great British ship which is now permanently moored here as a hotel, is the Dome. From 1947 till 1998 this dome housed the Spruce Goose which is the largest plane ever built. Howard Hughes flew it only one time for less than a minute to a height no greater than 50 feet for a distance of less than a mile.
While the plane has moved to Evergreen Aviation in McMinnville, Oregon the dome remains.
