We saw all these awesome giants and wanted to share them with everyone. The coords are a place you can pull off the road and get a good look at them. We researched on the web for info in regards to this farm. The result:
"...a series of titan, 260-foot-tall (about a 30 story building) wind generators lining one of the highest, and windiest, points in the region....Ned Ross, director of regulatory affairs for FPL Energy, said each turbine is a complicated machine — more than just a windmill and electric generator....Ross said the Wolf Ridge Farm could provide enough energy to power 250 homes on a day with average wind...
The wind blades are able to be tilted by radio control for maximum wind efficiency, though automatically the blades are tilted according to readings from an anemometer....The Wolf Ridge Wind Farm Project will feature the longest blades on any wind turbine project of FPL’s yet — 132 feet in length as compared to the standard length of 123 — a nine-foot difference...."
"...they start turning when the wind hits 8 miles and hour.. but onboard computers can shut them off if winds get too strong....the big wind mills are owned and operated by a Florida company, all of the electricity produced here will be used here.... While the 75 turbines located off FM 371, just north of Muenster, can be seen from miles around; there's not a single power line in sight. FPL says those were all placed underground for both safety and appearance...."
