The Anna J. mine was part of the Golden Cycle Mining Company, Incorperated in 1895 by David Moffatt, railroad and mining tycoon. Later ownership included John Milliken, A.E. Carlton, the United Gold Mines Company, Lee Baker & Company. John Davis and Dr. A.C. Denman. The mine closed in 1947.
Little is known about the production of the mine except that it had produced $1,500,000 in gold by 1900 when gold sold for $20.67 per ounce.
The original surface plant configuration is not known. However, by 1934, the two-compartment shaft was developed to a depth of 475 feet deep. The shaft was serviced by a gasoline engine hoist and compressed air was supplied by the Teller County Air Company. A two-bin timbered ore house stood east of the shaft.
