St. John Mine was originally a natural cave. The Native Americans in the area mined lead out of it. Settlers to the area continued mining the cave. Today the cave is privately owned and visitors can pay to take a guided tour.

The cave is open 9 AM to 5 PM daily May through October. It is located at 129 S Main St in Potosi, WI. Admission is $5.
