The Town Mortuary is a small brick building located on Passage Lane in Fowey, not far from Caffa Mill car park & the ferry. The mortuary closed in the 1980s after a replacement was built at Fowey Hospital. At the time of listing, the building was empty and up for sale.
The benchmark is carved on the face of the building, near the right corner. The mark was last verified in 1976 & is measured at 12.75 metres above mean sea level.
Take care when visiting as this is located on a narrow section of road, with no footpath.
