This church sits at the entrance to the Hickory Tree section of Sullivan County. The "bend" of the river is just over the hill and own the road, thus, I assume, the name.
This church is near South Holston Lake Dam and the South Holston Wier Dam and park on the tail waters where there are picnic areas and walking trials. It is also a well know trout fishing location.
