It is a War Department stone marking the Bedfordshire & Hertfordshire Regiment boundary from the Kempston Barracks which operated opposite. All that remains of the Barracks is The Keep.

At the south-westerly edge of the Kempston Memorial and Remembrance Building in the border next to the pavement.
