The Lewis Dozier Mansion at 10 Westmoreland Place was begun in 1895 and completed 1899. The Neo-Classical styled house was designed by architect John L. Wees. The house was built for bakery owner Lewis Dozier. Lewis Dozier was the owner of Dozier Bakery in St. Louis, he was also president of Dozier-Weyl Cracker Company, the largest maker of soda crackers in the country. This company was purchased by the American Biscuit Company which in turn was purchased by the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco). Mr. Dozier became a large share holder and director of the National Biscuit Company. He became active is civic affairs and philanthropic efforts.
