In 1978, Allegheny General Hospital’s LifeFlight became the first air-medical transport in the northeastern United States. Since then, LifeFlight has completed more than 60,000 missions throughout western PA and its neighboring states.

LifeFlight’s fleet is comprised of four Eurocopter EC 145s, which were put into operation in April 2008. The helicopter is one of the industry’s most reliable helicopters and is used for air ambulance missions, inter-hospital transport, and as a flying intensive care unit.
