Tow Boat H.T. Pott - 1932
First all welded steel hull tow boat on the rivers. 58' long, 15' beam, 6' draft and 140 hp. diesel. Operated out of Kansas City, MO.
Walk the decks of the H.T. Pott, the first towboat on the Missouri River to use a welded steel hull instead of a riveted one. Built here in St. Louis in 1933 and named for river transportation executive Herman T. Pott, the boat is known as a "towboat" even though it pushed barges or "tows" from the back rather than pulling them. The H.T. Pott's hull arrived at the museum by truck. The engine was then reinstalled, and a boat building company in St. Louis built a replica deckhouse here on the site. Donated in 1986 by Robert A. Latta and restored through the generosity of the Herman T. and Phenie R. Pott Foundation.
