"Originally 'Conrad's Butcher Shop', this purpose-built premises is an essential part of the Rundle Street streetscape. Richard Vaughan who purchased and established the East End Markets during the 1860s invited architect F.W. Dancker in 1885 to design this premises. After completion, Leopold Conrad, an apprentice butcher from Germany, began operating one of five shops from this premise."
