Le 4 novembre 1928, les maréchaux Foch et Milne et le lieutenant général Sir William Pulteney inaugurent un monument à la mémoire des 3 888 soldats du corps expéditionnaire britannique tombés d'août à octobre 1914 dans les combats de la première bataille de la Marne. À l'emplacement même de ce mémorial, le 10 septembre 1914, les hommes du général French, commandant en chef de l'armée britannique, traversent la Marne sur un pont de bateaux, chassant ainsi les troupes allemandes qui marchent sur Paris. Le ' Pont de l'Europe ' remplace désormais le pont de fortune réalisé à l'époque.

On 4 November 1928, the marshals Foch and Milne and Lieutenant General Sir William Pulteney inaugurate a monument in memory of 3 888 soldiers of the British Expeditionary Force fell from August to October 1914 in the battles of the first battle of the Marne. At the site of the memorial, on 10 September 1914, the men of General French, commander of the British army, crossed the Marne on a bridge of boats, hunting and German troops marching on Paris. The 'Pont de l'Europe' replaces the deck of fortune made at the time.
