The Lower Locks of the Pawtucket Canal includes two lock chambers, a dam, and sluice gates that control water in the Pawtucket and Eastern Canals. The lock chambers were originally built to help canal boats get around the 32-foot drop at Pawtucket Falls.
Here at this dam, the Lower Locks on the Pawtucket Canal dumps into the Concord River just before the Concord converges with the Merrimack River.
