The plaque reads: "Dedicated to the memory of Vaterans of all wars of the United States of America Washtwenaw County Michigan Memorial day, 1932" The engraving reads: "This shield stood at the entrance to the post office building in Detroit which was rebuilt in 1932" The words wrapping around read: "This site is a part of the Huron Valley named Indians Washtenong meaning the land Beyond"
