The church was built in 1831 and replaced a chapel of Ease which stood here previously, the chancel was added in 1855 and the nave rebuilt in 1864,but the main rebuild of the church was started in May 1864 and finished in February 1865.The architect was E G Paley who created the building in a Gothic style.
The church driveway is lined on both sides by some magnificent Beech trees but on the day of my visit I was told that they were soon to be felled as sadly they had succumbed to disease, but they are being replaced.
Date the Church was built, dedicated or cornerstone laid: 01/02/1865
