While driving through Temple, NH, and 'visiting' two NH historical markers at this location, I saw this pretty ironwork gateway at the entrance to the cemetery. The words say:
"In honor of the wives and mothers of 1776"
The cemetery is located on the southeast side of the Temple Common, just off NH Route 45 on Cemetery Road.
I couldn't find much else about it on the web, except a reference to it in a digitized book on Google dating back to 1938 ("American Guide Series, a Guide to the Granite State," Houghton Mifflin: Boston, MA). Thus, it is at least 70 years old.
Type: Triumphal (Monument/Memorial)
Subtype: Memorial
Location: Village Cemetery, Temple, NH
