WM CASEY NW, Washington, DC, is a vertical control disk set 18 inches below the surface and protected by a National Geodetic Survey logo cap at the northwest corner of the Washington Monument. It is in the NGS database at PID = AJ2000: (
visit link) . Prior to the 2004 - 2005 renovations of the grounds around the Monument, the logo cap was labeled Geodetic Control Mark and the collar was stamped WM CASEY NW 2000. Now, however, the logo cap is still labeled Geodetic Control Mark but the collar is unstamped. The logo cap is 1.5 feet northwest of the northwest corner of the Washington Monument. This cap is often mis-identified as WM BASE NW, PID = AI4424, and erroneously logged as a find on that Geocaching datasheet. Recovery of this station was first logged as a no-PID mark at the Geocaching datasheet for WM BASE NW, PID = AI4424.
