This flag is a blue field with a gold border. The city seal appears in the center surrounded by stalks of wheat in gold - referencing Kansas being the Wheat State. The city seal has the motto - "The City with a Future". Tne city and state name appears in scroll work above and below with more wheat. The center of the seal is divided with a church - for the importance of religion; a mortarboard and diploma - for the importance of education; a mother, father, and child - for the importance for family; and scales for the importance for law. The latter is pretty ironic since Lansing is home to the State Penitentary for the State of Kansas.
