"Nancy Antoine Leidy was an avid bicyclist for most of her life, so it seems appropriate that a bike now marks the spot where she was struck last week by a drunken driver. Over the weekend, the old bike, painted white, appeared roadside on Nazareth Street, near a spray-painted orange outline of where Leidy's bike lay after the accident." excerpt from link.
The spray paint is still in evidence at the site.
This memorial was brought to my attention by my Waymarking Guru...Rayman. It is a bittersweet memorial to me. I also am 60 years old and ride a bike. Hopefully, when I ride around the smaller town of North Tonawanda, I will not have this problem.
Please, when you drive a vehicle, be aware of the bicycles that may be sharing the road.
