(The summit)
(My first guided group on the summit 2003)
This summit is one of the highest summits
(2.474m or 8.117 ft) in the "Wölzer Tauern" in Styria. If you want to go there
it is no problem during the whole year. On the summit there is located a very
big crucifix with a little box. Inside you will find a summit book, where all
people who went uphill are recommended to document their visit for the
"Austrian alpine club" (It's a security procedure, if somebody is going lost
in the mountains to follow their way and have a better chance to find them!).
In a height of 1.680m (or 5.512 ft) an alpine
hut will await you where you can park your car if you don't want to go the
whole mountain uphill by feet. If you want to visit the alpine hut I recommend
at first to do it after your summitstorm and at the second to try the
"Zirberl" and the "Lärcherl". That are two very delicious destillates made of
the seeds of needle-trees. You can have also very fine austrian food there
called "Brettljausn". People there will know what you mean with this word and
will be very hospitable. Usually a overnight stay is possible there.
(The alpine hut with a part of the view to the valley)
Between November and May or sometimes June (!)
you also can go uphill with your touring-ski and go down by ski untill to the
mentioned alpine hut.
A foto of you on the summit (with crucifix
as a proof) is required for your log.
Happy waymarking
