The station was built in 1892 for the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, and the original Valley Railroad. The passenger station was located about 100 feet north of this station. The station has been restored and serves as the offices, ticket station for the Valley Railroad which operates the Essex Steam Train from this station.
