When the city founding fathers laid out Kingsport, TN, a key feature was a long downstown section (Broad Street) anchored by the Clinchfield Railroad Station (Waymark WM4Q7M) and Church Circle. The land was offered to newly formed congregations, which became First Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church. Broad Street Methodist Church, and a brethern church. The latter two merged to become a United Method congregation, so the brethern church was the city's fine art center for awhile until the Kingsport Renaissance Center (Waymark WM4RK5) was renovated and opened.
