By crossing the narrowest part of the entrance of Poole Harbour via this ferry you save driving over 25 miles on a return journey by road. The following details are available on the website:
'The service runs daily (see timetable), weather and other circumstances permitting, except for times when the vessel is undergoing refit (every two years, usually around October/November).
The present ferry, "Bramble Bush Bay", came into service in January 1994, it is the fourth ferry to operate this service since the Bournemouth-Swanage Motor Road and Ferry Company came into being in July 1923 following an Act of Parliament.
The ferry, 242 feet in length, has a nominal capacity of 48 cars.
Propulsion is diesel-hydraulic.'
