The Boston Post Road was laid out by Benjamin Franklin in while he was Post Master in Colonial America. The stones were placed in 1767 to regulate postal rates. This milestone is inscribed "60 Miles From Boston" The stone is located just to the west of one of the entry roads to a cemetery. The stone is a contributing object in the 1767 Milestones Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places.
