The prominent landmark of St.George's was designed by Paley and Austen,and consecrated in 1877.
The church was built when Millom was rapidly expanding due to the Hodbarrow Mines and Millom Iron works..
Inside the church can be found the stunning stained glass window memorial to Millom poet Norman Nicholson,who died in 1987.The imagery of the window depicts scenes from the life of Nicholson's work and poems.
The church spire is a landmark that can be seen from the shores of the Furness peninsula.
The church is built of red sandstone,with the spire being of sandstone and slate.
The churchyard is a beautiful well kept and tranquil place with seating provided for quiet contemplation.
