Brotherilkeld Farm is a working hill farm, rearing Herdwick sheep on open fellside. The access track from 'phone kiosk (
visit link) is a public footpath. The back drop are the Scafell fells of upper Eskdale. Among the highest in England.
According to National Archive. The National Trust bought the farm around 1955. (

Before the dissolution of the monasteries, the monks of Furness Abbey (
visit link) owned the farm and kept sheep here, prior to 1500's.
