In 1938 the towns of Dana, Greenwich, Enfield and Prescott were disincorporated to make way for the building of the Quabbin Reservoir. Many people were displaced in order to create the reservoir to provide water for the Boston area of Massachusetts.
This capsule was placed October 8th, 1988 which was the "50th Commemorative Year" of the land taking. It is to be opened in 2038 "The 100th Commemorative Year" of the end of the towns.
This time capsule is located within the Quabbin Park Cemetery. This is location of the 6,500 graves that were moved when the towns were disincorporated.
