This Park is named in honor of Connellsville native John Woodruff, an 800-meter Gold-Medal Olympian (1936). This park is one of ten parks in the city of Connellsville and is known for the ballfield on which the local Men's softball league plays at in the summer.
There is also a memorial in the park for James "Bubby" Braxton, another Connellsville african-american alumni, who played for the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins
